A portion of Route 23 in Genoa was shut down Monday afternoon due to downed power lines and is expected to remain that way until the evening, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The road closure, announced just before 1 p.m., extends from south of Route 23’s intersection with Debry Road in Genoa Township, and extends to Base Line Road. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office asked motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency personnel, as well as Illinois Department of Transportation and ComEd workers, are on the scene, tending to the downed power lines.
