Lockport powers past Lincoln-Way Central, advances to sectional final

Lockport volleyball is one step closer to another trip to the state tournament.The Porters swept Lincoln-Way Central 25-20, 25-14 in a 4A Sectional Semifinal at home on Tuesday night, completing the sweep after a competitive first set. Lockport coach Nick Mraz said his team knew what to expect after sweeping Lincoln-Way Central twice during the regular season. The key, he said, was sticking to its strengths and limiting mistakes.“At the end of the day, we knew what we were going to do, they knew what we were going to do,” Mraz said. “At that point, we knew we were a more physical team. So it was a matter of not making too many mistakes.”Mraz said the team had to work through some early nerves in the opening set, trying to make the perfect play rather than simply keeping the ball in play.
